The Christmas Blizzard 2006

It seems that anywhere we move, we have a huge storm follow us. We can handle blizzards though, hurricanes aren't as much fun to play in. It took me two hours to drive to work on Wed (usually a 30 min drive) and after an hour at the office, they told us the building was being shut down in 10 mins and to go home. So, I drove another 2 hrs back home. It was nice to have 4-wheel drive, there were a ton of cars that had slid off the road and got stuck. Some got stuck in the middle of the road because the snow was already so deep. The state closed all the freeways from border to border and the airport canceled all its flights from Wed afternoon until Thursday sometime. The whole city of Denver is completely shut down! Event he buses and trains have stopped for a few days. Its kind of eerie to see all the freeways void of any signs of life. We are all stuck in our houses and can't get our cars out of the driveway. The drifts in our yard were about 6 ft tall and where it didn't drift, the snow was at least 2 feet deep. Luckily we still have power and heat. Enjoy the pictures!
